How Alcohol Affects Fitness

I’m not here to persuade you out of drinking because I’d be lying if I told you I don’t have fun in my life and drink with friends/co-workers. But I want to inform you the research behind alcohol consumption and how it affects muscle development.

To put it in perspective, a weekend of hard partying erases approx. 4-5 training days of hard work in a week. However there is a way to minimize this: DRINK CLEAR ALCOHOL. No, not EverClear, but if you are going to drink then drink clear beverages like vodka, tequila, whiskey, and scotch. Don’t drink beer, not even light beer. Beer is extremely high in carbs; The higher your carb intake, the more intense cravings for more carbs.

Why clear beverages? Because you are minimizing the amount of carbs/sugar going into your body, which sugar is terrible for you if you are trying to lose weight/gain muscle. Clear alcohols have ZERO carbs; They have plenty of calories and other bad effects but at least you are minimizing the negative effects empty carbs have on your body.

Best strategy to take when consuming alcohol:

  1. One drink per hour. You can get the desired effect without forcing your body to pay the price
  2. Drink a glass of water after each drink. This will minimize your hang over tomorrow and keep you hydrated throughout the day/night.

At the end of the day, drinking is easy, winning is not. Successful people crave the natural high of excellence more than the artificial high of consuming alcohol. Be smart, reflect on your goals, and make 2019 YOUR YEAR.

Hey Everyone! I'm really excited to announce that I will be officially starting cooperbrunnerfitness! To give a quick overview, I will basically be discussing concepts or frameworks I've learned through research that I believe are critical to learn to become a disciplined, successful individual in all aspects of life. Your probably wondering.. Why are you all of the sudden deciding to become a blogger? Well... For years I have been studying/reading about influential people (Warren, Gary V, Tony Robbins, Zuck, Jobs..) that began with nothing and incrementally worked their way into becoming successful entrepreneurs. My hope is that while writing these blogs, I can ultimately inspire you to change your life and conquer those challenges you face everyday that block you from your goals. By no means am I saying that everything I talk about is the magic secret to success, but by reading the content I write about, hopefully you can take away some small tips/advice that can help inspire you to create ways on improving your life and the others around you. MAKE TODAY COUNT.
